LEYF was delighted to recently receive two Nursery World Awards at the 2022 ceremony.
The awards, which are open to everyone in education and childcare, are a wonderful chance to come together as a sector and recognise the valuable job that childcare professionals do across the country.
Winners are selected by a panel of expert judges who bring a wealth of diverse experience in the sector.
This award was given to LEYF in recognition of our sector-leading approach to caring for and educating babies in our nurseries, supporting their individual needs and using our unique pedagogy to support their development.
LEYF is immensely proud of our teachers for the way they care for the youngest children in all of our nurseries, and it was a privilege to have their expertise recognised.
London Early Years Foundation recognises the teaching opportunities available at this unique age and that children under two have specific needs. The group has introduced a formalised approach that gives babies the time and space they need. ‘Baby You’re Fantastic’ training underlines the uniqueness of babies and ensures that sensitive teaching underpinned by excellent care is understood and embedded into practice.
We received this award for our sustainable and eco-friendly approach, which underpins all of our day-to-day operations. This includes everything from recycling and resourcing, to management and educating children about caring for our planet.
LEYF is determined to improve its sustainability and reach net-zero by 2030. Eco-champions role-model good practice and help other teachers and children take more care of the environment. Sustainability is embedded within the LEYF Pedagogy and gives children a well-rounded education, so they grow up respecting the planet. LEYF’s Level 4 qualification, ‘Developing Sustainability in the Early Years’, supports teachers to enhance their knowledge of the subject.
Green LEYF is our commitment to educate and resource our nurseries to be green-minded. We have many green initiatives, including a full-time sustainability manager, trained eco-champions in each nursery, and many sustainable and eco-friendly resources that our nurseries use to educate our children.
Many of our nurseries are equipped with wormeries which are a brilliant way to reduce food waste and help the nursery garden to thrive. In this video, children in our Bushy Tails Nursery & Pre-school explain all about how their beloved wormery works.
