Our Nursery Chefs are dedicated to providing nutritionally balanced meals for children and are integral to the nursery team.
As a LEYF Nursery Chef, you are responsible for running the kitchen, preparing tasty and nutritious meals for children and staff, as well as helping to educate children, parents and staff on healthy eating.
Nursery Chefs actively participate in LEYF’s pioneering Chef Academy – a CACHE Level 3 endorsed award.
The course is free for LEYF chefs. Those who have completed their training become a LEYF qualified chef and receive a £1,000 uplift in their salary (based on a 40-hour week and compared to an unqualified chef).
Nursery Chef hours vary per nursery.
Our Chef Assistants assist in the preparation and service of all meals (lunch, snacks and tea).
As a LEYF Chef Assistant, you ensure safe food preparation and delivery of nutritionally well-balanced meals as well as helping with general nursery housekeeping, to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the children.
At LEYF, we give our Chef Assistants the opportunity to join our Chef Academy and train to become a LEYF chef.
Our lunchtime Assistants play a supportive role in ensuring the smooth running of the nursery. They typically work part-time hours between 11.30am and 2.30pm, and may be qualified or unqualified.
As a LEYF Lunchtime Assistant, you work flexibly to provide cover throughout the nursery. You supervise meals, tidy up efficiently, help to soothe children to sleep and support activities for children who are not sleeping.
