    South Bermondsey Community Nursery, which opened in 2006, it is located in the heart of Bermondsey. It is just a 10-minute walk from South Bermondsey Train station.

    Children share access to a secure, enclosed outdoor play area and experience high quality learning and real-life experiences.

    We are seeking a kind and knowledgeable Room Leader to join our friendly team in south Bermondsey. This is a great opportunity for progression and personal growth including leadership and creativity.

    Working Hours

    Our South Bermondsey Nursery is open 08.00-18.00 All year round.

    LEYF Nurseries are closed Bank Holidays including 3 x days over the Christmas Period which are Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year’s day.

    You will be required to work on 8 hours shift patterns with other staff members depending on the nurseries needs

    The shifts will alternate between:

    • 00-16.00
    • 00-17.00
    • 00-18.00

    Role and Responsibilities not limited to:

    • Responsible for the day to day running of their designated room
    • To distribute staff and resources effectively, maintaining ratios while supporting other rooms
    • To lead the planning of age appropriate activities
    • Carry out observations, be a good role model and remain professional to staff, children always
    • Coaching/supporting staff


    • Level 3 or above in childcare or equivalent
    • 2 years in an Early Years setting
    • Experience in Baby room essential
    • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of EYFS
    • Observation and Assessment knowledge
    • Understanding the difference between safeguarding and child protection
    • Training/courses completed in management are desirable
