Gary's story - Senior Programme Manager, LEYF Academy
I am Gary Simpson, Senior Programme Manager for the LEYF Learning and Development Department. My role is to support staff development, through the LEYF Academy, and build practitioner confidence to become pedagogical leads within their nurseries. I am tutor/assessor for the LEYF Apprenticeship programme where we support our learners on their journey to becoming qualified practitioners.
I have worked for LEYF for twenty
years and have a wide range of experience from Nursery Practitioner to Nursery
Manager and I also have experience of supporting nurseries that join the LEYF
Family with integration into the LEYF pedagogical approach.
I believe strongly that the best practitioners are lifelong learners and that the more we build confidence in our skills and knowledge, the better the service we can provide to our children.
What I love about working for LEYF is our drive to conduct action research within our nurseries so that we can challenge ourselves to improve our performance and the quality of learning opportunities we provide for our children. I also really enjoy working with my colleagues and appreciate the wealth of experience and knowledge we can share with each other to improve our service.
What our staff say about us
"My favourite thing about working with LEYF is that our ideals are around families and children, not about making money. You feel valued as a staff member and there is a lot of opportunity for development and progression here " LEYF staff member (2014 staff survey)
