My name is Stacey-Jane and I joined LEYF in 2003 as a practitioner, after a lot of hard work I became a manager in 2014 and now I am the manager of New Cross Community Nursery. I also have the Early Years Foundation Degree and Early Years Professional Status (EYPS). We have a highly qualified staff team; practitioners' knowledge and skills help to support and extend children’s learning to their full potential. Practitioners are particularly skilled at supporting children during their transition period which is extremely important as this separation between parent and child needs to be planned well in order to ensure children adapt well to their new environment. The forming of secondary attachments is a crucial foundation for children's learning journeys. The nursery is situated in a beautiful building, with four play rooms that all have direct access to outdoor space. There are extensive grounds which the children love to explore on a daily basis! We benefit from having a real urban city garden, in which the children can enjoy a range of stimulating experiences such as growing and exploring nature first hand. This is just one example of keeping our children fit and healthy from an early age to ensure they have the best possible start in life. We also benefit from having an onsite chef, who produces nutritionally balanced food on a daily basis and enjoys running cooking groups with the children! We're very proud of our nursery and would love to show you around! Please get in touch to arrange a visit.
Please note New Cross Nursery is offering the 30 Hours from 1 September, 2017. This is open to working parents of 3 & 4 year olds. There are a limited number of places available so please contact Stacey-Jane your Nursery Manager for details.
We are located in the borough of Lewisham a couple of minutes walk from New Cross station, providing care and education for children from birth to five years. We're open 8am - 6pm, 51 weeks a year.
"We are so lucky to have such a wonderful nursery." Helen, parent at New Cross
"I spent longer than anticipated on the visit because I was made to feel so comfortable. I'd also like to say this was the first nursery to talk me through fire regulations." Tanya, parent at New Cross
"The rooms are so spacious and full of natural light. My son has developed so much over the last 9 months. Other great aspects are the space; the pric;, the fact that it is a charity, so all profits are reinvested; and the flexibility ." Sinead, parent at New Cross
"The manager is so welcoming and makes everyone feel special. She encourages communication between parents, which is very reassuring for a first time mum. The baby room is lovely and bright, his key worker is amazing. I feel reassured he is looked after." Danielle, parent at New Cross
"I'm happy with how things are going at nursery. I find my child is happy to be there." Emma, parent at New Cross
"The love and interest staff have shown in her is clear in the affection she holds for them. Leaving your baby with someone you instinctively trust makes the heart wrenching process a thousand times easier." Emily, parent at New Cross
We were most recently inspected by Ofsted in October 2017 and were rated as 'Good'.
Older children learn to make a positive contribution to daily routines, such as setting up for lunchtime. This helps them to develop their independence. Young children are eager to explore with their senses. For example, they curiously explore shiny objects and making marks on materials, such as sand. Children develop as keen learners and build skills that help to support their progress towards the next stages in their learning.
