Elizabeth's story - from Apprentice to Nursery Manager
My name is Elizabeth Reid and I work at Queen’s Park Nursery as the Nursery Manager. I chose to work in childcare as I remember having a lovely childhood going to a LEYF nursery. When I decided on a career in childcare I knew I would try and get a job with LEYF.
When I was doing placements and volunteering at other nurseries I realised that not all nurseries are the same, and are not all filled with passionate and creative staff who want to work in early years to support and shape children’s futures.
I started with LEYF as a Nursery Assistant at Luton Street Nursery for a year and then jumped at the opportunity to go on the LEYF apprenticeship programme. I completed the apprenticeship programme and qualified as a Level 3 Nursery Practitioner. In 2013, I became an interim Deputy Manager for a short while before becoming the permanent Deputy Manager at Queens Park. When our Nursery Manager moved to another site in 2015 I applied for the role and was successful!
LEYF have given me so many opportunities to train and learn and I will be starting the Leadership and Management course in October. You are able to be a part of providing a better chance for the children of London.
LEYF are the best childcare providers out there - they are totally different to other nurseries.
