Choosing The Right Nursery For Your Child
Choosing the right nursery for your child
Choosing a nursery for your little one can be a hugely daunting prospect. Moving from your own constant care and attention to letting trained staff look after your child can feel strange at first, so it’s vital that you’re comfortable with the nursery you choose. Here are LEYF Nurseries’ top tips to make that choice as easy as possible.
The first thing to consider is, of course, your child’s individual needs. Do they have special dietary requirements? Or maybe they need specific medication at regular intervals? Whatever the case, you need to make sure that the nurseries you’re considering are equipped with the facilities to deal with these needs. At LEYF we generally advise parents to discuss anything like this with the nursery manager first to make sure that they can look after your little one properly (and avoid any problems in the future).
The next thing that you need to think about is location, location, location! Do you need a nursery near home? The office? Apart from all the great social and educational benefits, nurseries exist to make parents’ lives easier. If you need somewhere on the way to work/college/grandma’s house, make that the starting point in your search
Another crucial thing to consider is the staff. You must find a nursery with a team you’re comfortable with, because they’ll be looking after the most precious thing in the world – your child! It should always be possible for you to meet the staff of the nursery you’re interested in, and they should always be pleased to welcome you and answer any questions you might have.
Finally, the last thing to think about when choosing your child’s nursery is the children themselves! When you go to visit a nursery, pay close attention to the little ones who already attend and see if they look happy and stimulated. If they look like they’re enjoying themselves then the chances are your child will too! Make sure you also pay close attention to how staff interact with your children when you visit and how your little one responds.
